The new Europe is an exciting place in which to live and work. Each of its
rich cultures remains vibrant and strong and interestingly different. At the same
time, memberships in the European Union, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,
the United Nations,--as well as participation in the global marketplace--have
brought about changes in the mentality of Europe's citizens and a realisation
that they must move forward together to solve common problems and to compete successfully.
Denmark
is an especially interesting place in which to study issues of nationalism, transnationalism
and globalisation, international communication and international advertising,
and expressions of cultural identity. This small country is Europe's oldest democracy
and one of its earliest traders. Its citizens speak English well, support the
arts, and are generally well-informed about international affairs. Denmark's central
location allows them to travel easily throughout Europe. Denmark is also an active
member of the European Union, and it has forged especially close ties with the
Baltic States and central European countries.
We would like to invite you to join the international environment, which this
Programme seeks to create, and we hope that you will benefit from your stay.
