Aalborg University Library
Aalborg University Library (AUB) is one of the many facilities available to students and faculty. The main library is situated at Langagervej 2. As a general principle both students and faculty are allowed to take home literature for a minimum of 14 days. Foreign newspapers are kept for six months at the library, but cannot be checked out. The virtual library gives access to a large number of electronic journals.

Book Shops

In the University bookshops you can buy all of the Danish and foreign literature which is used in the day-to-day teaching at the University. Most foreign books are imported directly from publishers to reduce costs and time of delivery.


Canteens

The five university canteens sell sandwiches, hot snacks, coffee, beer, soft drinks, etc. Full hot meals are available at the canteen at Fibigerstræde 15 as well as the canteen in the main Humanities building at Kroghstræde 3.


Computer Facilities

For working purposes, equipment is free of charge and guidance is available. Approximately 400 computer terminals are placed in laboratories and offices all over the University. Besides this service, the individual departments offer additional computer equipment. The computer lab that will be most often used by students enrolled in International Cultural Studies is located in Kroghstræde 3.

Multimedia Lab
The Multimedia Lab, located in room 5.126 Kroghstræde 3, is home to 14 MacIntosh computers, two Pentium II Personal Computers, two cd rom burners, a scanner and much more. Programs available in the multimedia lab include Descan, Omnipage, DeBabelizer, Photoshop, Illustrator; SoundEdit; and Pagemill.

Video Lab
The AV-lab offers transportable as well as stationary video and audio equipment for both analog and digital editing. The AV-lab has 2 VHS-editing stations, 1 Beta 3-point editing station, 1 AVID 1000 (upgraded to 4000), and 2 Media 100 harddisk video-editing stations. It is also possible to borrow a DVD-player and a video projector. A CD-player, tape-recorder, reel-to-reel tape recorder, DAT-recorder (editable in Sonic Solution) can also be borrowed from the AV-lab. After thoroughly having examined different video-editing solutions, the AVID Media Composer 1000 (upgraded to 4000) was chosen. The equipment gives the opportunity for both off- and on-line editing.The AV-lab also has a small video-library, which is primarily used by students for analyses and source material in project-work.

e-Learning Lab
E-learning lab is a virtual and physical laboratorium at Aalborg University conducting research on e-learning. The lab is organised as a cooperation between the university (cross faculty) through ITI and the following companies and institutions: Ericsson DK, Telia Telecom, IBM DK, Spar Nord, Universitetsfonden and EUC North. More companies and educational institutions are linked to the lab through "knowledge shares". The research approach is interdisciplinary integrating technology, design, pedagogy and organisational change and development. The lab is closely linked to and support social and technological experimental research and development work on-campus as well as off-campus. The main focus is on virtual learning communities.

Virtual Reality Media Lab
The VR Media Lab is one of Europe's largest virutal reality installations with a unique configuration of visualisation facilities. The overall objective of the VR Media Lab is to create a form for the research and educational environments of Aalborg University and its partners in industry and at other universities.
